Native American and Alaska Native people generally have significantly higher rates of alcohol and drug abuse then other racial groups. Native Americans and Alaska Natives can either receive treatment within a conventional alcohol and drug treatment facility if rehab is provided in their own language, or take advantage of program which was designed solely to treat these clients in their language exclusively. Drug rehab facilities that provide rehabilitation in Native American or Alaska Native Languages offer either a conventional approach such as treatment programs based off of the 12-step method, or there are drug treatment facilities with treatment programs using their language which offer a more holistic and alternative approach. Since many aspects of the Native American and Alaska Native cultures concentrate on holistic healing and so on, these clients can greatly benefit from an alternate drug treatment program which incorporates these components of their culture in a thorough treatment plan in their language. Native Americans and Alaska Natives who need treatment and can reap the benefits of a treatment setting conducive to their traditional healing procedures may even take part in treatment services at many facilities and drug treatment programs which strive to give a tranquil setting.
