DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be ordered to rehab either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of remaining out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while intoxicated in the foreseeable future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
