DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehab facilities are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug treatment due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders might be required to go to treatment either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of staying out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse whenever they drive while under the influence later on. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
