Criminal justice clients are those who are in any kind of drug and alcohol treatment program due to alcohol or drug related criminal offense. This will happen for example when someone is found guilty of driving under the influence or DWI, and for any other type of drug related crime that has led the judge to believe the individual has any type of drug or alcohol use issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in a drug rehabilitation program as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered from the court it's wise that the individual do everything they are able to to benefit from this chance. In many cases, other penalties and consequences could be entirely eliminated or lessened if the individual succeeds in rehabilitation and completes the drug rehab facility which has been ordered for them. Very first time offenders are the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients who do take part in rehabilitation in place of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to incarceration or similar consequences. Eventually, it saves a legal court system both time and money when criminal justice clients receive effective rehab.
