DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs are generally there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could possibly be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of remaining out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug abuse should they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
