DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities are either there on their own accord, but usually in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could possibly be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their substance abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated later on. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
