DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug rehabilitation programs are either there by their own choice, but generally in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be ordered to rehab either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while drunk or high later on. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
