DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehab programs are either there by their own choice, but generally in drug and alcohol rehab as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders may be required to go to rehab either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of remaining out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug abuse whenever they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
