DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug rehab centers are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could be required to go to treatment either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. It has been verified that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of staying out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their substance abuse. This may certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their substance abuse when they drive while drunk or high down the road. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
