DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehab programs are generally there by their own choice, but generally in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be required to go to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This may certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse should they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
