DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug rehab facilities are generally there on their own accord, but usually in alcohol and drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of remaining out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while intoxicated later on. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
