DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug treatment centers are either there on their own accord, but usually in drug and alcohol rehab due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders may be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that those who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of staying out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This may truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse whenever they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
