DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are generally there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug rehab as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders might be ordered to rehabilitation either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of remaining out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug abuse. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
