Criminal justice clients are those who are in any kind of alcohol and drug rehab program as a result of a drug or alcohol related crime. This will occur for example when someone is convicted of a DUI or DWI, or for any other kind of drug related crime that has led the court to believe the individual has any type of drug or alcohol use issue. Not everyone has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol rehab facility as a criminal justice client, however, if this approach is ordered by the judge it is wise that the individual try everything they can to make the most of this opportunity. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences could be completely eliminated or lessened when the individual does well in rehabilitation and finishes the drug and alcohol treatment center which was ordered for them. New offenders will be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients that experience treatment in place of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to prison time or similar consequences. In the end, it saves the court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients obtain effective rehabilitation.
