DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug rehab facilities are either there on their own accord, but generally in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug abuse. This may certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug abuse should they drive while intoxicated in the future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
