DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug treatment centers are either there on their own accord, but usually in drug rehab as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of staying out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug abuse when they drive while under the influence in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
