DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders may be required to go to rehab either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of staying out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This may truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while under the influence down the road. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
