DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in alcohol and drug treatment programs are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders might be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their substance abuse if they drive while drunk or high later on. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
