DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol treatment centers are generally there by their own choice, but generally in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be ordered to rehab either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of remaining out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This will certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated in the future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
