DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol rehab centers are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of staying out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug abuse if they drive while drunk or high in the future.
