DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug and alcohol treatment centers are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug rehab due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while drunk or high down the road. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
