DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug treatment facilities are generally there on their own accord, but usually in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of remaining out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug abuse. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse should they drive while intoxicated later on. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
