Criminal justice clients are those who are in any sort of drug and alcohol rehabilitation program on account of alcohol or drug related offense. This will happen for example when someone is found guilty of a DUI or DWI, and for any other type of drug related criminal offense which has led a legal court to think that the individual has any type of drug or alcohol use issue. Not everyone has the option of taking part in an alcohol and drug rehab program as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered through the judge it is wise that the individual do everything they are able to to benefit from this opportunity. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences could be entirely eliminated or lessened if the individual does well in rehab and completes the drug and alcohol treatment center which has been ordered for them. First time offenders are the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients that do experience rehabilitation in lieu of other penalties have significantly lower recidivism rates than people who find themselves ordered to prison time or similar consequences. Ultimately, it saves the court system both money and time when criminal justice clients obtain effective treatment.
