DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are generally there on their own accord, but usually in drug treatment as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the court system than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This may certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their substance abuse whenever they drive while under the influence later on. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
