DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug abuse.
