DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol rehab centers are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug treatment due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could possibly be ordered to treatment either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of remaining out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while intoxicated in the future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
