Criminal justice clients are people who are in any type of alcohol and drug treatment center due to alcohol or drug related crime. This can occur for example when someone is found guilty of a DUI or DWI, or for any other kind of drug related criminal offense that has led the court to think that the individual has any sort of drug abuse issue. Not everybody has the option of getting involved in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center as a criminal justice client, however, if this approach is ordered from the court it is strongly advised that the individual try everything they are able to to make the most of this chance. Oftentimes, other penalties and consequences could be completely eradicated or lessened in the event the individual does well in rehab and finishes the drug and alcohol treatment center that has been ordered for them. First-time offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients who experience rehabilitation in lieu of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to prison time or receive other penalties.
