DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are either there by their own choice, but generally in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated down the road. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
