Outpatient treatment gives treatment clients the ability to sustain specific responsibilities and aspects of their lifestyle while getting involved in drug and alcohol treatment services. Outpatient treatment is a moderate level of treatment, and shouldn't be mistaken for the level of rehabilitation provided in an inpatient or residential treatment program that is significantly more intensive. Outpatient treatment could be ideal for someone who has a brief history of drug abuse for instance, but will almost certainly not be adequate for somebody whose rehab needs go beyond that which outpatient treatment is able to provide. Individuals involved in substance abuse often need a considerable environmental change, because many of the things that prompt their drug and alcohol use are purely environmental. As an example, if a person has been physically or emotionally abused and this is triggering their drug or alcohol use, there is no way for any treatment endeavours to achieve success if they go back to such conditions on a daily basis. In outpatient treatment, clients can engage in group and individual counseling, in addition to family counseling services. In outpatient treatment, most programs will provide services six or seven days each week on either a part-time or full-time schedule for four weeks or longer in some instances.
