DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug rehabilitation programs are either there by their own choice, but usually in drug and alcohol rehab due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their substance abuse when they drive while under the influence down the road. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
