DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol rehab centers are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug treatment as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could be ordered to rehab either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug abuse if they drive while intoxicated in the foreseeable future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
