DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol rehab centers are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be ordered to treatment either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This will certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug abuse if they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
