DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug rehab centers are generally there on their own accord, but generally in alcohol and drug rehabilitation as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders might be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of staying out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This may certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while drunk or high later on. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
