Outpatient treatment gives treatment clients the ability to maintain certain responsibilities and aspects of their way of life while getting involved in alcohol and drug rehab services. Outpatient treatment is a moderate amount of rehabilitation, and shouldn't be mistaken for the level of rehab offered within an inpatient or residential treatment setting that is significantly more extensive. Outpatient treatment may be ideal for anyone who has a brief history of drug abuse as an example, but will almost certainly not be sufficient for somebody whose treatment needs go beyond that which outpatient treatment is prepared to offer. Individuals dealing with drug and alcohol use often require an extreme change of environment, because many of the things which prompt their drug and alcohol use are purely environmental. For instance, when someone has been physically or psychologically abused and this is triggering their substance abuse, there is no way for any rehabilitation efforts to achieve success should they go back to such situations on a daily basis. In outpatient treatment, clients can benefit from group and individual therapy, as well as family therapy services. In outpatient treatment, most facilities will provide services 5 to 7 days per week on either a part-time or full-time basis for four weeks or longer in some cases.
