DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug treatment programs are generally there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be required to go to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This may certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug abuse when they drive while intoxicated down the road. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
