Criminal justice clients are those who are in any type of drug rehab center as a result of a drug or alcohol related crime. This will happen for instance if someone else is found guilty of driving under the influence or DWI, and for any other type of drug related offense that has led the judge to think that the individual has any kind of drug abuse issue. Not every person has the option of getting involved in a drug and alcohol rehab facility as a criminal justice client, but if this approach is ordered from the court it's strongly advised that the individual try everything they can to benefit from this opportunity. Oftentimes, other penalties and consequences could be completely eliminated or lessened if the individual succeeds in rehab and finishes the alcohol and drug rehabilitation program which has been ordered for them. New offenders are the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients that experience rehabilitation in place of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to prison time or receive other penalties. In the long run, it saves the court system both time and money when criminal justice clients obtain effective treatment.
