DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug treatment centers are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug and alcohol rehab due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of staying out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug abuse whenever they drive while drunk or high in the future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
