DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol rehab facilities are either there by their own choice, but generally in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that people who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while intoxicated in the foreseeable future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
